Countdown to the Top 5 Silliest COVID-19 Precautions

Three hours ago I got my second shot of the vaccine. Now I’m sitting on my couch, waiting to see whether I’ll have any adverse side effects. A number of my friends complained of headaches, the chills and high fevers after Dose #2. I’m nervous I might suffer the same consequences.

To pass the time, I’ve decided to compile a list of some of the more ridiculous measures taken to guard against the spread of COVID-19 this past year. I’m not making light of the seriousness of the coronavirus. Trust me, I’ve seen enough to understand how harmful this virus can be. But sometimes laughter is the best medicine to heal what’s ailing us. So please indulge me in finding some humor in the following precautions I’ve either experienced firsthand or heard about while trying to stay safe during the global pandemic:

Number Five

Wearing a face mask when alone in a car. This one has me scratching my head—and I feel like I see it often. Can someone please explain the risk presented when you’re driving down the road with no one else in the car? Did the driver just forget there was a mask on his/her face? Or was he/she getting ready for work and decided it was more efficient to put it on before arriving at the office? Maybe he/she was on his way to…
