Last weekend, I went to a small club to see a Santana tribute band. Everything about it was awesome! The vocals. The bass. The guy on the keyboard. Both drummers were exceptionally talented and fun to watch, and when I closed my eyes, the music coming from the guitarist almost made me believe that Carlos Santana himself was performing right in front of me.

But, the best part about the night was the ESCAPE.

Music offers such an incredible opportunity to be present in the moment and take a break from reality. Today’s world contains so much heaviness that it can bog you down. A night filled with music and movement was exactly what I needed to lighten the load a bit.

It also got me thinking about the ways in which music has impacted me over the years, how it has always played a role in my life whether I was fully aware of it or not.
