Mass Shootings Continue to Plague Our Nation

Why can’t we get a handle on this?

I know I wasn’t alone in my insomnia last night. I’m sure that countless Americans felt the full gamut of emotions that I did after learning about yet another school shooting in this country.

Shock.

Sadness.

Confusion.

Anger.

Disgust.

Helplessness.

19 children and two teachers dead.

Why?

How has our nation allowed this to happen AGAIN?

Have we learned nothing from the past? From all the other senseless deaths that have occurred under similar circumstances.

This isn’t solely about gun control. Or mental illness. Or law enforcement. Or hate.

It’s about the cross-section of them all. About the failure of a society that holds itself out as the greatest democracy in the world.

Why can’t we keep assault weapons off the streets?

Why can’t we provide sufficient services for people battling mental health issues?

Why can’t we respect each other’s differences and varying opinions?
